Hindus regard Kaligandaki as one of the very sacred rivers. One hundred and eight fountains of Muktinath, a holy place in Himalaya, sanctify it. It is also one of the main tributaries of river Gandaki. From Muktinath it flows southwards creating the deepest gorge in the world between the two-world famous mountain peak, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. Kaligandaki flows westward up to Ridi where it meets with a stream called Ridi Khola. From there it changes its direction towards the East separating Palpa from the Gulmi district in the north. Diverse culture, vegetation and wilderness of the river really provide pleasure, excitement and thrills to the tourists while trekking, rafting or boating.
